..I share this opinion..BUT I think corporations monopolizing
political campaigns with $$$$$$$$$$$$$ will manage to continue
Republi$$K$$an politics, so they can continue their “privatization” push to have American taxpayers subsidize their private profits…

let’s all remember, for example, the over half U.S. “intelligence” gathering has been privatized…which makes their findings a self-fulfilling prophecy…

I’ll view and comment on this video later.

Chris, you’re right that the GOP makes self-fulfilling prophecies when they follow thru on gov’t being ineffective saying that gov’t is the problem and that gov’t f***s up everything – as opposed to a corporate free market.

    Chris and NR,
I agree with Cenk here as well as both of you. You’ve got to believe that at some point that these right wingers who are fueled entirely by hate, will at some point be repulsed by it. Have you ever seen a truly happy right winger? I haven’t. How can you be happy when all you do is wallow in hate?

I’m going to link an article that lends credence to what Chris said. Remember, Reps always have dirty tricks up their sleeve.

    chris,

I think you make good points – after all, what you write connects directly to that very insightful article from the New York, that Colleen previously linked to, about the Koch Bros.

I am not sure that this is the death pangs of the republican party. If it is, they might very well be taking US all down w/them, too! Esp. as obama and his admin. Can’t seem to tell the difference between what Dems are supposed to do vs. what Republicans do!

As long as there is hatred and ignorance, and as long as all the various Koch Bros. entities exist, to fund the hatred/ignorance for their own Gain, the republican party will be very strong I fear.

For instance, someone at work mentioned that Muslims believe in keeping women down and stoning them. Now, I know in certain countries that is true, but that is the Fanatical part of that religion – just as the fanatical part of Christianity also believes in subordinating women.

As for the idea of building a Japanese Cultural Center at Pearl Harbor – there would be No reason to do that, really. (Unless one wanted to go the ultimate route of forgiveness, which might not be so bad, considering how we wiped out 2 Entire Japanese cities w/our atom bombs)….

At any rate, a community center/mosque is supposed to be for the Entire community. It’s also about freedom of religion.

But it doesn’t matter. These distinctions – subtle, powerful and of the truth – are Lost on the ignorance that is the tea bagger mentality.

Since Farron and I would want to see any right-wingers who post dissenting comments on ROFR, that they provide a legitamate link to back up their statements (when I beg to differ, such as with Israel, I attempt to back it up with fairly sound facts from different links I’ve posted here before). If right-wingers really want to make critical points about Obama and the dems, then they could probably provide links about the crunch-down of numbers that are cited from the CBO. And, as for polls, I would like to see a right-winger back up his/her claims with something like a Gallup poll, as opposed to Rasmussen. So calling Obama and the dems’ policies “socialism” is really baseless since Obama has really done more for capitalism than a more socialized agenda (reform/regulation is NOT socialism).

With further adieu, here is an article of the myths and facts of socialism in the US on the Truthout website, which are contrary to right-wing talking points:

Such great comments. I remember people who commented that “Ronnie Ray Gun” would never be taken seriously enough to be elected president coming to the realization that with enough money and enough friendly media, electing Bozo the Clown could happen. Media has been lax in their responsibility to tell truth to power because they want access to the politicians they should be policing. They have never held Reagan accountable for the crimes of his administration much less tripling the National Debt. That, and many more examples, is why only 45% of this country even believes the media anymore.

I wish that Cenk would have been given the new show on MSNBC instead of Lawrence O’Donnell. I just love listening to his information and well discerned opinions.

..here’s Krugman again, on the unsustainability of current economic strategy:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/27/opinion/27krugman.html?_r=1&scp=3&sq=paul%20krugman&st=cse

let’s all remind ourselves every excuse of an issue Republi$$K$$ans rant, that they are attempting to hide their own historical record on Bushit economics…

let’s also remember that it is DOUBTFUL (in many minds including mine) that more than a few very powerful “investment banks” were really in trouble=read this:

With hate in mind in America, since Jews have historically received more oppression than Muslims, here is the ADL page on anti-semitism in America which still persists (generally) more than with Muslims:

    http://adl.org/main_Anti_Semitism_Domestic/default.htm

Some of you may recall that Glenn Beck made some anti-Semitic remarks fairly recently about Jews and “Christ’s 2nd coming to get back at them.”

    http://www.adl.org/Anti_semitism/letter_glenn_back_20100802.asp

    NR,
Thank you for the Truthout links. They are a GREAT source of the facts. Bravo! You are absoulutely correct that any group like the tea baggers that thrive on hate, fear and racism will live on but IMO they go in cycles where they drop out of sight periodically (John Birch Society, the KKK, etc) and only regain clout in times of social unrest. Did you hear of any of this during the Bush years? It existed but the MSM didn’t publicize it because their guy was in the WH.

    davidperi,
I like your analogy of the life of Nixon to Glenn Beck. My husband and I believe that the more exposure Glenn Beck gets, a larger and larger number of people will be treated to his enormous buffoonery. The more public scrutiny this clown gets, the greater the pressure will be upon him and a total melt down is in his future. Possibly today. Watch Keith Olbermann Monday–he will be having a recap of this weekend’s “highlights.”

    Sue,
First, you’re correct that any clown can be elected to the highest office with enough money behind them.
The election process has become like a reality TV Show where the people vote for the person whose image meets their warped criteria. (remember “I’d rather have a beer with Bush than Kerry?”) It’s all image over substance in this “Idiocracy.”

I agree passionately that Cenk should’ve gotten his own show instead of Lawrence O’Donnell. I’m a big fan of Cenk. He’s just out there with the facts and his perspective.

    Colleen,

If I recall correctly, Cindy Sheehan may have held “The Barbara Bush tea party” 5 years ago when Bush, Jr. was in office when she was, and probably still is waiting on answers on why her son really died in Iraq. I may have to see if it’s on Wikipedia. I seem to recall the “Barbara Bush tea party” posted on the Michael Moore website. Of course, that “tea party” at the time was speaking more truth to power on unnecessary war and to the left of these teabaggers today.

…Just found the link from the Michael Moore website on the “Barbara Bush tea party” from back in 2006:

    http://michaelmoore.com/words/must-read/tea-party-for-barbara-bush

As for the Glenn Beck, I hope Oliver Stone does a movie on him like he did with George W. Bush.

Cenk is lying. Fact is, he and all of the MSLSD lackeys are the ones who spew hate. Keith “Go f*** your mother” Olbermann is the biggest hate-spewer of all. And this left-wing hate will be the Dems’ downfall. They will get shellacked in November.

FYI, Keith Olbermann’s Mother is deceased. Leave it to you asshole right wingers to stoop to the most disgusting levels to insult someone. YOUR Mother must be a real prize! She probably doesn’t even admit she’s yours. I love you idiots who take any unfounded drivel from the Beck’s, O’Reilly’s etc. as fact, but when you’re confronted with REAL facts you can’t handle the truth. A final thought for this ROFR thread on the politics of hate is that we ought to be using our brain more than our wallets when it comes to having our gov’t more efficient. America needs to include more quality and at least a little less quantity. I’m sure that was what fmr. pres. Carter was implying in his 1979 “Crisis of Confidence” speech. He seemed like the last pres. to tell America to think – not just use our wallets.

    “Keith Olbermann’s mother is deceased…”

His mother’s passing does not give him carte blanche to spew hate and lies.

“Your mother must be a real prize. She probably doesn’t even admit she’s yours…”

That is what passes for debate in left-wing looneyland, folks.

You have a point. Colleen should not have insulted your mother, who might, after all, be a very nice lady.

but we just don’t know, do we?

  31. Colleen
    August 30, 2010 | 3:17 am

    Scott,
Your original post is what passes for debate in right wingnut land.

As for your Mother, she turned out you, didn’t she? I feel sorry for her. You’re the one that attacked first and lowered the debate to your loser level. Just go away and watch your right wing losers. You obviously don’t watch Keith Olbermann because he does not spew hate like you claim. Unlike your ilk.

  32. Scott
    August 30, 2010 | 5:45 am

Yes, I have watched Keith Olbermann, yes, I have read the transcripts of his shows AND YES, HE DOES SPEW HATE. Calling Michelle Malkin “a mashed up bag of meat with lipstick on it” is Exhibit A. And Colleen’s mother fixation helps to prove my point about left-wing hate-spewing.

  33. Mara
    August 30, 2010 | 10:08 am

Now, Scott, you are getting a little hot under the collar. And Why? You don’t have to watch Keith, nor visit here to insult those who do.

Now, I myself, am a little appalled at what Keith said, too, if, to quote you, he Really said (which, considering M. Malkin, he might Well have said):

“Calling Michelle Malkin “a mashed up bag of meat with lipstick on it” is Exhibit A.”

It’s Very hateful to call Malkin that, but at least Keith admitted that Malkin tries to cover up her rotted core w/attractive makeup.

Isn’t it kind of like that “lipstick on a pitbull” deal? Remember that? And a pitbull is Hardly a nice animal. Nor even a grizzly is all cuddly. Both of those animals can take any living creature and turn it into a “mashed up bag of meat”.

So, far from this being an insult of Keith’s – I think he was merely paying *homage* to Malkin and others like her.

So, you needn’t be so thinned-skinned about all this, Scott.

Would it do any good to find some Hero of Yours – Rush Limbaugh or someone else you admire – and serve up a similar quote?

As for Colleen’s mother fixation, I know what you mean.

She’s the Mother of ALL mother fixations! I think she has some unresolved issues there. Freud would have a lot to say on this.

I know, myself, that it’s difficult, mother-wise, to be neutral. I think to myself about ALL that I’ve missed out on. And certainly, my channeling that displaced mommy-energy into clown dolls (which Unnerve me, I must confess) and comfy-yet-attractive footwear Can’t possibly be as *healthy* as I like to think it is…

    So I don’t judge Colleen.

Plus, she Has a point. No Mother can be totally, 100% assured that she won’t shoot out some one who might someday grow up and come to a Liberal website where they will then come up w/the Same kinds of arguments you are brandishing here, at This *very* site.

That’s just a risk mothers everywhere have to take, every single time they give birth.

I guess that was a risk I just didn’t want to take.

So, I simply go online to order interesting sculpture. It’s a fine hobby! It’s good for getting rid of some of that hostility.

Here’s an image that reminds me of my feelings for your arguments, Scott:

    http://image.timepassagesnostalgia.com/watermarked/imagesa1/a177keaneboy.jpg

I find the above image very moving. There is an attempt to communicate, but a regrettable inability to really know how. It’s very moving to me. Plus, I need to put it next to my velvet Elvis.

Every Home should have a Velvet Elvis….

Scott, please stop mass-debating yourself over this. I have long ago lost interest in you simpleton. Please move on. I do not carry on a battle of wits with an unarmed person. You don not entertain me. End of story. Bye bye. Michelle Malkin BTW deserves all the hate she receives, because she spews it out first.

  35. Scott
    August 30, 2010 | 6:53 pm

Colleen just lost another debate, because she is full of hate, just like Olbermann.

And Michelle Malkin does not spew hate, she exposes hate.

That image I linked to, w/the big eyed child holding the lesser eyed (yet Still quite big eyed) poodle…

If you look deeply into that poodles eyes – dark though they may be – you see Much resentment there.

a hurt, sullen look, that goes beyond just a dog wanting to have a meal, is apparent to me.

That poodle should be a joyful thing, a Frolicking thing, but instead?

Instead of being all rollicking an happy, that dog looks like someone Done Him Wrong!!!!

Yet, the limpid eyed boy holds the poodle so tenderly….

What does this all say to me?

A good question, and one I have spent this Entire day musing on…..

I feel ready to answer that question.

That poodle’s eyes show the Same Exact manner of resentment that Scott has displayed on this very board. yes. the SAME kind of sullen disagreeableness and petty petulant hurt.

It’s uncanny. somehow, in my constant, never-ending endeavor to fill my home w/stupid art, I have Hit Upon the Very thing that expresses ALL that Scott, and others like him, are about!!!!

It’s like I’m psychic or a genius, or just plain brilliant or something (and modest, of course, because those overly laden w/My kind of gifts need to Stay Humble)…..

And Now, I can only wonder -

    How big are Scott’s eyes

    ????

Scott. If you have read this far. Could you let us know? I think you probably have eyes that are roughly Half the size of your face, and no doubt filled with angry resentment (yet, undeniably Fetching, as well)!

  39. Mara
    August 31, 2010 | 2:45 am

    Is it possible….

    ????

That Scott is actually a Poodle, as well??? A very smart, yet undeniably angry, sullen, Resentful poodle????

NR links to Keyboard Cat, all the time, so I Hardly think my question is a frivolous one….

These days *anyone or Thing* could be typing away on the keyboard, which begs the question….

(I have Very large eyes, too). But I am the boy, Not the poodle. *Symbolically* I hasten to add! I am a *Liberal*. We don’t mind being hurt by the ones we love. We will pick up Any aggressive little poodle, because we Love. That’s Right. We LOVE.

Here is an image to demonstrate Exactly what I am trying to say:

    http://www.weddingaccessories.net/catalog/550028-precious-moments-wedding.jpg

    (I don’t think the 60′s/70′s have Ever been surpassed, Art-wise) -

So, I’ll stop now. My work is done here. And plus, it’s quite late. I have to see if I still have a job, tomorrow. I spent the Entire day musing over all these questions, and I think they are a *little* annoyed w/me, at work.

They are such low-class *Peasants* at work. Albeit, duty still calls. I must rest. Many thoughts are swirling in my head right now, about eyes, love, questions of duty, notions of honor, poodles, clowns, Elvis, and so forth.

And one Fundamental question stands out for me:

WhERE to put that Precious Moments sculpture? The landlady is threatening to throw me out onto the streets if I bring even One More Precious Moments figurine into the bleak existence that is my dwelling.

So, I guess I will just have to glue Another one to my car. Well, at least I can find that car in *any* parking lot (the hundreds of stuffed teddy bears inside Also stand out, like a stuffed, furry beacon of store-bought cheer).
