Ed Schultz – The Hardest Working Progressive in America

Last Saturday, tens of thousands of progressives showed in Washington, D.C. as part of the One Nation Working Together rally. That crowd was filled with teachers, firefighters, police officers, and other middle class Americans who are angry over the fact that Wall Street is getting welfare, while the rest of them are barely able to make ends meet. Mike Papantonio talks with MSNBC host Ed Schultz, who gave the keynote speech last week, and he’s got some ideas on how progressives can keep this momentum going through the midterm elections.

Mike, what is so funny about 3M not offering their retired employees health insurance anymore? The laughter distracts from a very serious point that Ed made. What these big corporations are doing to their employees both past and present is NO laughing matter. Please keep these interviews on a serious note when it warrents it.

    A *****GREAT***** VIDEO!!!!

Of Ed and Mike talking about the moving experience that the One Nation Rally was, for them!!!

I think Ed’s question: “do working families understand” what the corps are doing to them – is a Very Important, as well as Extremely Poignant question!!!

I can answer: NO. At least not the ones I know. For some, they may be *beginning* to Wake Up, for it’s slow going, and they will probably STILL vote AGAINST themselves in this election cycle!!!

It’s a damn shame, but I bet MANY more, through hearing about and viewing the One Nation Rally (even though they couldn’t go, for whatever reasons) – WILL BE MOTIVATED TO VOTE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FUTURE!!!!

I also LOVE how Ed included ALL the good words: Left, Progressives, Liberals, Dems – as being under One Umbrella, ultimately, and needing to be the ones to beat back the evil Republicans.

As Ed said, they ARE evil – and no sane person who thinks through what they are doing to US and our Country can disagree!!!

“You can let them frame” our movement, Ed told Mike. Very True!!!

I Especially LOVE that Mike talked about how, at this nation, Ed “took back” issues such as religion and patriotism.

Those are certainly two very thorny issues for many Progressives. The issue of Patriotism has taken on very Negative overtones, from the bastard far Right.

I know, for myself, it’s almost Impossible for me to wear the colors of my country on holidays like the 4th of July, or election day, because I am so Disgusted w/what “Patriotism so often boils down to:

Unthinking, Un-nuanced, Marching-in-Lockstep adherence to the powers of Jingoism + Big Business, covered by the shoddy FACADE of red/white&blue!

So, it’s REALLY thrilling to see Progressives, Liberals, Dems and The Left get together for such a Thrilling and Important Movement as the One Nation Rally!!!!

(Also, when I saw Rep. Alan Grayson wearing a patriotic tie, I felt uplifted. Bill Maher rather took Grayson a bit to task over all the red/white& blue he had on, and Grayson replied: why should this be the province of the Republicans? GREAT answer)!!!!!

Mike, as usual, shows that he Really Cares for people who are struggling, people who are being Harmed by the GREED of the PROFIT ONLY, mentality, and it’s just Wonderful to hear Mike and Ed discuss these extremely Important issues!!!!

    Also:

(I clicked the link to the side of this video and saw a photo of Mike at the One Nation Rally!!!! VERY Cute!!!! That’s one to bookmark)!!!!!!

    :D

In all seriousness, looking at that photo and hearing Mike interview Ed, there can be NO Question that Mike, as well as Ed, are both For the People!!!!!!!!

(The part where Ed shouts out to the thousands at One Nation: “Are You Americans!” is Brilliant and Always Exciting to Hear! Listening to his speech, at home on the computer, I Also shouted out: “YES”)!!!!!

I never really wanted to be So….well, American!!! I’ve Always felt SUCH A DEEP CONFLICT w/my country, and this is why I checked out of trying to understand about politics a LONG TIME AGO!!!!!

    but Not Anymore!!!

Not since reading that great article on Robert F. Kennedy, in Vanity Fair and not since this Fine Show (and the Norman Goldman show. Norm, I know, got his start w/Ed and the two men are, like Mike and Ed, GREAT Friends and GREAT WARRIORS in the Progressive Movement)!!!!!!!

I’m sorry: I misquoted Ed in a VERY Important point he made, to Mike, re: the ilk that makes up far right talk/media:

“You ***Can’t*** let them frame” our movement” – said Ed.

I mistakenly wrote Can because I type too fast, as the thoughts, ideas and emotion comes out of me, through my fingertips and onto this blog!!!

    :D
