in the Feb 4, 2012 Ring of Fire interview about the mortgage foreclosure settlement then coming there was a mention of MRS (banker controlled mortgage registration system to record transfers of property and loan ownership). Does anyone who reads this comment know if the banker controlled mortgage registration system (with errors that obscured whether loan owners owned properties foreclosed on) paid required recording taxes to the local governments where properties are located? My guess is banks created a private mortgage registration system to avoid local deed of title recording taxes on real property sales. Lots of local government ‘austerity’ budget cuts could be undone if each transfer of a loan and ownership in the securitization process were taxed or settled for or prosecuted.
Why was Josh Fox on? It sure seemed like Bobby Kennedy knew all the answers and didn’t need any input from Josh. Kennedy’s monologues during that interview were tremendously irritating – he should save them for the host talk time and let us actually hear from the guests.
The GOP is satisfied with losing at the lightning-rod presidential level. The chances of the economy regressing greatly are very high in the next few years (there’s huge deflationary pressures) and they don’t wish to be left holding the bag, the poisoned chalice, and falling back into the wilderness again for another fifty year period. That’s why we don’t see better R candidates and higher levels of funding for them — not because the GOP is falling apart. The only way I can see the GOP fall apart would be if the Dem party would somehow reorganize without the ‘non-realAmericans’ (I don’t advocate that). The GOP is effectively a negatively defined party; they are: *NOT The Party Of The Non-realAmericans*. . . . Besides the BIG money has their man in office already despite their rhetoric. … [RealAmerican = White Protestants descended from Germanic tribes i.e. Angles, Saxons, Jutes etc. including those wrongly thought to so descend, namely those of English ancestry...the latest gene based research shows that the English are not Germanic...see “Saxons, Vikings and Celts: the Genetic Roots of Britain and Ireland” by Bryan Sykes who did much of the research or “Origins of the British” by Stephen Oppenheimer.]
Something similar occurred in 2008. The big money didn’t really want McCain to win then either in such troubled waters. In the quiet rooms they probasbly knew what they had in Obama and who he would and wouldn’t put inn at justice and treasury. And they knew that a black man as President would minimize the chances of a successful populist uprising against them. Since 2008 we’ve been in a holding pattern waiting for the second shoe tpo drop.
To those out there who say that that the GOP is dieing out: you underestimate the allure of ‘realAmericanhood’, whether real or delusional. This is politics, not physics. Peoples attitudes are all important in a democracy no matter how peculiar they may seem. … The R ranks will be refilled by younger people as they age.
The beginning of the interviews were clipped by commercials.
This past week I heard a liberal political talk show host utter something which for me crystallized the problematic nature of the cultural leftist:
“We always win.”
This host was referring to gains made in gay rights and womens reproductive freedom over the past forty years.
But he didn’t address the corresponding economic concessions to the moneyed interests made by the Democratic Party over the years to achieve these things. No, he saw only the one side of the ledger. . . . Not to mention that had the real-left(economically progressive) maintained the power the cultural-left or New Left (economically regressive) abrogated to itself forty years ago, they very likely would have gotten around to these things themselves, possibly sooner, and almost certainly without having to give away the economic store.
*WE* always win? Not by a long shot. Or perhaps i just don’t understand who “we” is.
Did he slip? Is “we” the moneyed interests? Because they are the ones who always seem to win over the last forty years.
Does he laugh at us? Are we, and i mean the majority who are concerned primarily with economic concerns, in his mind so intellectually inferior to him that we won’t see the inherent incompatibility of the cultural left and the real left?
and another thing…
How safe from repeal does the cultural left think these achievements are when the defenders of them will be of the same caliber of cultural leftists who gave us McGovern, Mondale and Dukakis as opposed to the real left which competently gave us FDR, Truman and Kennedy?
Further, we are possibly headed for a fascist state due to the cultural left giving away the economic store. Of course i hope it can be avoided but if it plays out as I imagine, not only will these new rights be repealed, the very people the cultural left purports to help such as women, gays, and racial/religious/ethnic minorities will likely lose even more rights and possibly their liberty and even their lives, God forbid.
The right wing also gave away the economic store as well but they did in a cold, calcualted way.
