If you were to take 90 of the countries around the world according to GDP ranking and compare the entire economies of those countries against simply the pure profits of Exxon, Exxon would be more economically powerful and profitable than every one of those 90 countries. Where does sales analysis of $30 billion a year leave a company like Exxon – or Shell, or BP, or Chevron? It leaves them in control of our lives.

Pap-your comments yesterday concerning seniors were off base I believe.i believe seniors just don’t believe what’s going on will affect them as bad as it will if republicans gain power. Also we have children and grandchildren who will be greatly affected by republican plans for the entitlements. Medicare will be destroyed next year if they get their way by divide-and-conquer. Conside-why would someone 35 yrs. old contribute to Medicare if he didn’t know if it would even last another 5years? Therefore all those below age 55 would opt out and cut founding by a bunch. In addition,Romney and Ryan both have committed to only 9 more years of life for Medicare. Republicans do not have any plans to replace Medicare now because I checked and BCBS will not insure anyone individual without partB. Another fact-life insurance companies drop seniors at age 74. Will they do the same for health care plans.
Once successful for Medicare they will attack SS. Again, this will be accomplished by privatizing at age 55 which will cut funding by 400-500 billion dollars per year and immediately destroy SS. Many seniors currently have IRA’s and they have failed over the last 12 years.brokers and fund managers are the ones making money off our accounts or it’just being stolen by banks.
Consider this- if Medicare and SS are destroyed by republicans, then trillions of dollars will need to be reimbursed to all Americans immediately. Also if you don’t believe this scenario, remember that “protect” to republicans means privatize. Seniors need to made aware of what republicans are doing one way to completely balance the budget is to eliminate the entitlements completely and they will do it.
Your oil comments are right on target. What’s worse is that we are subsidizing foreign oil companies like BP and Shell. In Chicago, we are paying 30 cents to one dollar more per gallon than the rest of the country. This is due to BP refining Canadian tar sands at their refinery here. Shell is also refining this sludge raising gasoline prices significantly because it may only contain about 75% of the volatiles that normal oil contains. Refineries using this sludge must remove residual sand and do something with the extra tar this stuff leaves.
Please tell Jendyl in Louisiana that the BP refinery here has a pile of sand here that can be barged to his state so that he can build another sand bar to protect his wetlands
I catch RoF every Saturday (or Sunday replayed by 1090AM in Seattle). I am listening to you (Mike P.) now as you sub for Ed Schultz. Some jerk just called you and tried the old grind “My business made it without any help from the government!”. I was soooo pleased to hear you shut him down. I wish more of our TV and radio hosts were as good as you (and Ed) at pushing back quickly and authoritatively when these kind of right-wing talking points are thrown out on the table. You are a blessing and a current-day knight. Keep up the great work!

Just wanted to let you know I listened and found it very educational and interesting. I am like a sponge that likes to soak up all the knowledge I can. Coming here and finding the news video’s was like mana.
On my blog I am posting videos of Bob Whitaker. I am only posting two a day as they make me want to puke. Yet, I haven’t talked to the man in about five years when I told him, that I would never believe what he and David Duke believed and that I had a duty to fight them. Part of my ptsd healing is writing letters to people, so I need to know what he has been saying and writing for the past five years so I can get my feelings out. His I won’t be sending. The really sad thing is my mother like Bob Whitaker, because he was a Republican and worked in Reagan’s government, plus in Congress to a South Carolina Congressman, I believe. He is White Nationalist like her. Yet, the Liberal Progressive friends I get abused and tortured over. She hates with a passion what I love and I dislike with a passion the things and people she loves.
So thank you for being a voice of sanity in my twilight zone world. Now that I have done my work of posting two of his 8 part video’s called the untamed eye and his daily posting on is blog, I can focus on new and good things to fill my mind with.

I know at some point I will face a backblow. I know they don’t want to hurt me as I am a woman, even White Nationalists don’t want to get rid of women, so they are hoping I will go away and not continue to try and bring the big guns upon them. I can’t do that!!!! Duty first, duty second, and duty third. I took and oath as a Political Dauther of the American Revolution to fight against all enemies foreign or domestic and that is why I fight!!! They shold know me by now that I will FIGHT them until my dying breath.

What a killer “Ed Show” on the radio with you yesterday, Mike! That was awesome and I’ve got some info you might use (or maybe Ed could use) in terms of Native American spokespeople and organizations.
I’m a former Greenpeace toxics campaigner and grassroots organizer; it was during the early ’90′s that landfill and incinerator companies figured out that there were no EPA regulations on Indian lands; GP got involved in hiring Native people as campaigners to work on this. Anyway, out of that came the Indigenous Environmental Network, IEN, at ienearth.org. This is an organization created by and run by Native Americans. They are currently working hard on the fracking and tar sands issues. Talk to Tom Goldtooth; he would be an intelligent, humorous and imposing-looking guest for anybody’s show and IEN needs support!
Second, we need to call out our union brothers and sisters for supporting the XL Pipeline; last time (the only time) I went to the website of the Democratic Underground, it was plastered with ads from the unions saying, “tell Obama to quit stalling on the pipeline.” This is frankly a sell-out of us: the lefties who are the ONLY people who support them with real feeling anymore. Isn’t it time to insist that they create jobs by building wind turbine and solar panel factories instead? You know, real jobs that last more than 2 years and you don’t have to live away from your family in a trailer??
Finally, the Good Creator has given Barack Obama dozens of situations in which he could’ve become the greatest President of all time in everybody’s eyes, and he had no clue how to take the bait. During the BP spill, I would’ve said, “Number 1 – BP will pay for the clean-up, but we the American people will oversee and hire the cleaners and volunteers along with the Coast Guard and National Guard. This is our coastline.” Then all the fishermen would’ve had jobs right away! Also, let the media film it all. How dare they keep the cameras away! Number 2 – announce immediate funding help for a wind turbine plant or solar plant or both in Louisiana and/or Mississippi. I was shocked by Obama’s behavior during the spill.
Finally, if you’re a conservative, “drill-baby-drill” person reading this, why don’t you go look at the oil spill footage, shot from an airplane by a scientist, at blogspot.com. If you can support more drilling after watching dolphins asphyxiating, then I say a prayer for your ultimate change of heart, but do us all a favor and rejoin the human race, why don’t ya?
If you are anti oil and energy – stop broadcasting and using energy.

Apparently, 2012 could be much like 1980 where the GOP could have a good chance of winning in November due to their dumb luck, dumb money, and dumb people voting against their own interest as a result of the outcome of Citizen’s United (some people say the Dems have lost every election since Obama came into office, HOWEVER, they forget that progressives won in Ohio on a decision on whether to replace unions with the “right-to-work” last November and more recently with a Democratic candidate beating a GOP candidate in AZ to fill in and replace Gabby Giffords’ Senate seat).
