Papantonio: The Decline of the American City

Loki Films has a new film out called “Detropia”, which tells the story of what has happened both economically and socially to the city of Detroit, and why the success or failure of this town could determine the success or failure of the rest of the United States, and Mike Papantonio recently spoke with both Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing about their new film.

ObamaCare must be great. That’s why the party that wrote it and signed it into law made sure that they all got waivers.

I was seeing an a progressive page on Facebook a few weeks ago that cities with income disparity can actually be seen from space as satellites have taken pictures comparing/contrasting poor urban cities that are bare with upscale neighborhoods and communities which have more vegetation and robustness. I also think of it how many neighborhoods can be compared and contrasted to that on the Monopoly game board between Mediterranean Avenue and Boardwalk (and/or Park Place) – just as Mike mentioned a couple months ago on ROFR that the capitalism were dealing with today, like in the 1920′s and 1930′s, is much like a game of Monopoly where the winner ends up with all the money, which was essentially the hidden message about plutocracy and kleptocracy.

As for my area in Northern Virginia, there are many ugly shopping centers with vacant lots. Plus, there’s a shopping mall in Tysons Corner, VA, which my dad designed in the 1980′s with 3 levels and several vacant spaces, and the spaces that are filled cater to mostly those upscaled in the 1%. Over the past 10 years, malls having 3 levels hasn’t been very feasible to fill in that many stores/lots.

…On a separate note, for those who want the gov’t off their back and in the tea party crowd, who should really watch what they wish for, I noticed these new Virginia license plate, NOT bumper stickers that are yellow and have the “don’t tread on me” snake on it. Now, if these people really hate the gov’t that much, then why would they be going into auto shops to get their car’s state inspection once a year?? No one can have no gov’t involvement in their lives whatsoever, unless some right-leaning Americans would really want to move to Somalia.
